I am a freelance designer who creates small-scale and one-page responsive websites on WordPress for small businesses and non-profit organisations. I design from the ground up or will fully redesign/rebuild a current static or dynamic website.
As more people search and shop online, a distinctive dynamic website built on a CMS (Content Management System) such as WordPress becomes a necessity.
A static web site is a fixed number of pages with the same content, whereas a dynamic site consists of a variable number of pages containing variable information from the site’s database. Pages can be added without building them from scratch.
Without accessing the actual pages, content can be added or eliminated easily through a secure entry area, which the site’s programming updates automatically.
Your unique face to the world, a website is a constant presence communicating you as small business, non-profit organisation, artist, or musician/band – whether your focus and goals are local, national or international.
My philosophy is grounded in minimalist theory and design mobile first, then expand toward desktop.
Content with ample space is central and essential for communication of a website’s fundamental purpose.
WordPress is my chosen open-source platform because of its ease of installation, its separation of content and appearance from its main functionality and its user-oriented and user-friendly operation interface.
As well, after minimal instruction, the operation and maintenance of the website can be handled by the client with relative ease, giving one the freedom to update and control their own website without the additional cost of technical support.
Content Strategy is creating unique, useful content for visitors and users, and is essential for Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Basically, it addresses these questions:
Responsive websites are coded to resize and/or rearrange their elements to fit optimally within the screen width of any device – tablet, laptop, smartphone or desktop computer. With a responsive design, people using mobile devices or small tablets need not manipulate the website using “pinch and zoom”, as the content flow is adjusted automatically for screen size.
